Ondo Finance brings pre-IPO AI exposure on-chain — But there’s a catch

AMBCryptoAMBCrypto2026/10/06 18:39

Ondo Finance made a reputation out of putting stocks and treasuries on-chain. Now, they want something more.

The platform is moving into private markets.

The latest launch: Ondo Private Markets

Let’s get one thing clear with this new launch. You’re not actually buying shares. You get tokenized notes.

Here’s how the payout works. The note’s eventual payout is linked to the value realised per common share when the referenced company undergoes a qualifying liquidity event. If the company does well, buyer does well. If it flops, so does the note.

There’s no shares with your name on them, and no say in how the company is run.

What you do get though, is freedom to move. Eligible investors can hold the notes in their own self-custody wallets or trade them on secondary markets.

The first notes start trading this week.

Ondo has done this before… with public companies. Ondo Stocks lists more than 450 US stocks and ETFs; holds over $1 billion in TVL.

Private markets are the next room over, but its getting crowded.

In April, Robinhood’s venture fund put $75 million into OpenAI common stock. They opened it up to retail investors through a publicly traded closed-end fund. In June, Citi was reported to be building a blockchain marketplace for private-company shares.

ONDO holds above $0.50 after a 50% run in September

The token itself has had a decent few weeks. ONDO at press time was at $0.507; that’s about 50% above its mid-September low near $0.33!

The top didn’t last, though.

ONDO tagged about $0.61 on the 28th, then fell back. The token has since been moving sideways.

RSI was still in bullish territory but below its signal line at 63. OBV also peaked near 365 million during the rally, dropped, and has since crept back to 329 million. Some buyers left, a few are returning.

If the new notes pull real volume this week, $0.55 is the first level worth watching. If they don’t, $0.48 is where things get uncomfortable.

Final Summary

  • Ondo Finance launched Ondo Private Markets; there’s tokenized notes tied to an unnamed pre-IPO AI company.
  • ONDO hasn’t reacted much since the announcement; $0.55 and $0.48 are key levels.

Interpretation - What is the low-frequency spectrum obtained by SpaceX for Starlink Mobile?

Harshita Mary Varghese, Reuters, October 9 - SpaceX SPCX.O has agreed to acquire a portfolio of low-band spectrum licenses covering the entire United States, in a deal reportedly valued at $8 billion. The company is seeking to expand its business beyond satellite internet and become a major competitor in the U.S. mobile market. SpaceX revealed its plans to enter the mobile service sector during its first earnings call in August. This announcement briefly weighed on the company’s stock price, and shares of the three major U.S. wireless carriers—AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon—were also affected as investors assessed the potential competitive threat. What is low-band spectrum? Low-band spectrum refers to radio waves that travel further and penetrate buildings better compared to higher frequencies, making them suitable for wide-area mobile network coverage. In contrast, mid-band and high-band spectrums can transmit more data at faster speeds but have a smaller coverage area. SpaceX has agreed to purchase up to 14 MHz of paired 800 MHz low-band spectrum licenses from Grain Management and plans to develop a hybrid architecture for Starlink Mobile, combining terrestrial infrastructure with satellite connectivity. How is the U.S. spectrum licensing system structured? Commercial spectrum is a scarce resource in the U.S., regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which typically allocates licenses for specific frequencies and geographic areas via auctions or other authorization processes. License holders must comply with technical rules and deployment requirements, and transfers of licenses usually require regulatory approval before obligations are fulfilled. The spectrum license deal recently struck by SpaceX is pending FCC approval. Which low-band spectrum do the three major carriers hold? AT&T’s low-band spectrum includes the 700 MHz and 850 MHz bands, as well as 600 MHz spectrum licenses acquired this July through the purchase of EchoStar. Verizon holds spectrum in the 700 MHz and 850 MHz bands, while T-Mobile’s low-band holdings include 600 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum. What are the plans for STARLINK MOBILE? The company plans to integrate these spectrum licenses into its next-generation satellite system, while also deploying terrestrial radio equipment and antennas on communication towers and rooftops. The FCC this week approved Starlink Mobile’s application for its second-generation (Gen2) satellite constellation, authorizing SpaceX to launch 15,000 satellites globally optimized for the 2 GHz spectrum.

BUZZ - Leerink says concerns over growth in the medical technology sector may overshadow third-quarter performance

October 9 – Leerink Partners stated that, ahead of the third-quarter earnings reports, it remains cautious on the medical technology sector and pointed out that the short-term market environment is “somewhat uncertain.” The firm noted increasing competition in some markets, including the cardiac devices and diabetes care sectors; uncertainty in surgical volumes amid rising costs; weak consumer confidence; and pressure on hospital budgets due to higher interest rates. “We believe that even if third-quarter results are positive, they may be overshadowed by ongoing market concerns about profitability and growth prospects for 2027 and beyond,” the broker said. The firm believes that positive factors for specific companies could help Medtronic (MDT.N) and Tandem Diabetes Care (TNDM.O) outperform the broader industry during these sector-wide headwinds. The broker said it remains most cautious on PROCEPT BioRobotics (PRCT.O) and Insulet (PODD.O), as a slowdown in adoption and intensifying competition may lead to lowered expectations for 2027.
