dtcpay Raises $25 Million as SBI Backs Stablecoin Growth Plan

  • dtcpay completed its $25 million Series A with strategic SBI backing.
  • Funding will support enterprise tools, app upgrades, and broader merchant expansion.
  • SBI could strengthen regulated payment links between Japan and Southeast Asia.

Singapore-based dtcpay has completed its $25 million Series A after adding Japan’s SBI Group as a strategic investor. The raise extends a round initially anchored by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India. The company will use the capital to expand its merchant network and upgrade enterprise tools. It also plans new consumer app features.

dtcpay Series A Adds SBI to Expand Stablecoin Payments

SBI invested through SBI Ventures Asset and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund, according to the official announcement. Existing backers Genedant Capital and Kwee Liong Tek also maintained their positions.

The company did not disclose SBI’s contribution, ownership stake, valuation, revenue, or the planned allocation across each project.

dtcpay operates under a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Its platform supports digital-asset conversion, custody, merchant point-of-sale payments, and stablecoin spending through a Visa-linked card.

The company also reports regulatory footprints across Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, and North America. That reach supports expansion, although every market carries separate licensing and compliance requirements.

SBI Investment Targets Regulated Cross-Border Payment Growth

For dtcpay, SBI brings more than capital to the Series A funding round. The Japanese financial group has expanded across exchanges, stablecoins, blockchain networks, and digital-asset infrastructure.

The partnership could help connect Japanese capital with Southeast Asian merchants through regulated payment rails. Stablecoin payments can reduce settlement delays and intermediary costs compared with traditional correspondent banking.

However, faster transfers still require strong custody, compliance, liquidity, and fraud controls. Regulatory coverage may therefore become a stronger advantage than transaction speed alone.

Founder and CEO Alice Liu said the funding supports a wider effort to reshape global cross-border payments. Chairman Band Zhao identified infrastructure, institutional partnerships, and new regulated markets as the next priorities.

Founded in 2019, the company previously raised $16.5 million through a pre-Series A round in June 2023. It supported earlier product and regional expansion plans.

dtcpay did not provide launch dates for its enterprise portal or planned application features. It also withheld its current valuation and revenue figures.
