AI Hardware Rebounds Post-Hike as Huang Guides for Double the Chip Sales

AI Hardware Rebounds Post-Hike as Huang Guides for Double the Chip Sales

8461
With the Fed's hike now behind the market, memory and optical communications names across AI hardware bounced together. At Friday's close, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose nearly 3%, SanDisk jumped 11%, and both Micron Technology and Lumentum gained 4%. The immediate source of the sentiment shift was a comment from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: the company will sell twice as many chips next year as this year. That pulled the conversation back from rates toward demand, which in turn sets expectations for upstream memory and optical suppliers. The hike landing is also a case of bad news being priced out. What had been weighing on hardware names was primarily the rising discount rate, and with that resolved, focus naturally returns to orders and capacity. Worth keeping in mind, though, that "double the sales" is verbal guidance rather than reported figures, and delivery depends on how quickly capacity comes online. Memory and optical firms also sit several supply-chain layers away from Nvidia's actual procurement, so the degree of benefit varies meaningfully between them. Are you positioning in AI hardware?
