According to the Snapshot governance page, the MetisDAO community voted in favor of the proposal to "decentralize the testnet sequencer and launch community testing". This proposal aims to deploy sequencer infrastructure on the decentralized testnet and launch community testing to help Metis developers stress test the new architecture.
