The upgrade introduces temporary data blobs with EIP-4844, also known as "protodanksharding", which will help reduce L2 transaction fees. The main goals of the Ethereum Dencun upgrade are to improve the scalability and modularity of the Layer 2 network, enhance the security features of the Ethereum network, and improve overall usability.
