Six Nobel laureates in economics recently issued an open letter expressing concern over the multi-trillion dollar tax and spending bill passed by House Republicans last month. The main concern lies in the cuts to the Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which they believe are crucial for American families. The House version of the bill proposes a $700 billion cut to Medicaid spending and a significant $300 billion reduction to the SNAP program, marking the largest cuts in the history of both programs. The open letter urges the Senate to reject the bill and start the budget process from scratch.
