Trump-Linked Meme Price Drops 85% from All-Time High, $520 Million Tokens Set to Unlock
According to ChainCatcher, as reported by Cointelegraph, U.S. President Donald Trump recently shared an article on the social media platform Truth Social, endorsing the view of his official Memecoin (TRUMP) as an indicator of public political sentiment. Data shows that the current price of the token is approximately $10, down 85% from its all-time high of $73 in January.
On-chain data indicates that only 26.48% of TRUMP tokens are currently in circulation, with the remaining 735 million tokens (73.52%) yet to be unlocked. At the current price, the 50 million tokens set to be unlocked on July 18 are valued at approximately $520 million, which could exert further pressure on the market price. On June 7, Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son, announced that a crypto company he supports plans to acquire a "large amount" of the tokens, but the market reaction was muted.
Industry insiders point out that short-term price fluctuations of memecoins are driven by speculation, but long-term trends may reflect public expectations of Trump's political prospects.
