Trump Team Considers Bowman, Jefferson, and Logan as Candidates for Federal Reserve Chair

According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing two U.S. government officials, Federal Reserve Vice Chairs Bowman and Jefferson, as well as Dallas Fed President Logan, are considering taking on the role of Fed Chair when the position becomes vacant next year. Treasury Secretary Bessent, who is in charge of the selection process, said he will interview more candidates in the coming weeks. Officials stated that Trump is expected to make a final announcement this fall. Sources familiar with the matter said other candidates still under consideration include Trump economic adviser Kevin Hassett, Fed Governor Waller, economist Mark Zandi, and former Fed officials Kevin Warsh and James Bullard. Last week, Trump nominated White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Stephen Moore to fill a Fed Board seat. Officials noted that since Moore’s nomination has already been submitted to the Senate for confirmation, the Trump team does not see an urgent need to find a new chair. Bessent will interview all chair candidates and then recommend a shortlist to the president for meetings.
