  • Ethereum surged above $4,000 as futures open interest spiked, signaling strong speculative demand but higher liquidation risks.
  • SOL held steady at $201 after rejection from $218, with technical indicators pointing to indecision near key levels.
  • XRP stabilized near $167B market cap despite sharp intraday swings, reflecting underlying strength in volatile conditions.

The cryptocurrency market showed contrasting moves as Ethereum , Solana, and XRP displayed different signals. Price action highlighted volatility, while indicators revealed shifting participation. Each asset reflected unique momentum that shaped short-term trading conditions.

Ethereum Futures Activity Surges with Price Gains

Ethereum continued its strong trend, with the price rising sharply and breaking above $4,000 in late July and August. The rally followed earlier momentum from March, where ETH displayed extended gains supported by futures participation. Price growth aligned with rising open interest, which confirmed increased speculative activity.

Futures open interest climbed significantly as both long and short positions expanded. The green area on the chart reflected strong capital inflows. This surge in participation highlighted broad engagement but also raised the risk of liquidation-driven volatility.

Ethereum remained in a clear uptrend, supported by speculative demand. Yet, leveraged positioning suggested possible sharp corrections if momentum weakened. Market conditions confirmed enthusiasm, but higher risks remained evident due to increased futures exposure.

Solana Consolidates After Recent Highs

Solana traded at $201, consolidating after reaching a peak of $218 earlier in the session. Price action hovered near the moving averages, with MA(1) at $200.54 and MA(5) at $203.56. This range reflected indecision as the token balanced between support and resistance levels.

The MACD indicator showed a bearish crossover with negative histogram bars. However, recovery signs appeared as momentum stabilized, pointing to weakening downside pressure. These technical signals reflected consolidation rather than a decisive breakout.

Despite pressure from the rejection at $218, Solana held firm above $200. Price stability confirmed resilience, though volatility risks persisted. The token displayed potential for movement in either direction as consolidation continued.

XRP Holds Steady Amid Volatile Swings

XRP showed active intraday trading, with market cap fluctuating between $164B and $168B during August 30. The asset faced several sharp swings, including early morning and afternoon drops. Recoveries followed quickly, pushing the market cap toward $167B by the close.

Despite repeated reversals, XRP managed to hold its ground. Market demand supported stabilization near the higher range, even amid fluctuations. This indicated continued resilience in the face of volatility.

XRP’s session confirmed short-term uncertainty but demonstrated the token’s ability to maintain value. Active swings highlighted speculative trading interest. Yet, stabilization near $167B suggested underlying strength supporting the asset’s position.

Fed Voting Member Harker: Fighting Inflation Requires Faster, More Frequent Small Rate Adjustments, Be Vigilant Against Inflation Expectations Becoming Entrenched

Cleveland Federal Reserve President Loretta Mester believes that inflation pressures have spread beyond the energy sector, with AI investments and tariffs driving up costs. To prevent high inflation from becoming entrenched in the economy, she suggests that the Federal Reserve should consider smaller, quicker, and more frequent rate adjustments, rather than waiting for inflation pressures to accumulate and then taking larger actions. She did not explicitly support an interest rate hike in October, emphasizing policy transparency: explaining the response mechanism does not equate to committing to a specific rate path.

Will the US cancel 20-year Treasury bonds? BNP Paribas: It may trigger market panic; Citibank: Positioning 20-year bonds to outperform 10-year bonds

There are market rumors that the U.S. Treasury is considering cutting back or canceling the issuance of 20-year Treasury bonds, which were reinstated in 2020. The yield on 20-year bonds has long been higher than both 10-year and 30-year bonds, resulting in a "hump" in the yield curve and higher financing costs. The market is closely watching this Friday’s routine survey questionnaire, as well as whether a clear signal will be released in the quarterly refunding statement on November 4. Citi suggests positioning in advance, but BNP Paribas warns that such a move could be interpreted as a panic signal that policy tools have been exhausted.
