The final vote on the proposal to burn 100 million UNI is approaching: the largest on-chain UNI short position has reduced holdings by 40% to lock in profits.
BlockBeats News, December 19 — Possibly influenced by Uniswap's "Unification" proposal entering the final voting stage, several on-chain traders have started to place bets. According to monitoring, the largest UNI short whale, "Altcoin Short Army Leader," has closed more than 40% of his UNI short positions since 13:00 yesterday (UTC+8), reducing his current position to $2.79 million, with an unrealized profit of $1.22 million (437%), an average price of $7.46, and a liquidation price of $5.19.
It is worth noting that the whale "0x413c," who went long on UNI as early as the 17th, boldly increased his position at an average price of $4.9 just two hours before the final vote. Although his unrealized profit once exceeded 50% at its peak, he ultimately chose to exit at breakeven in response to this morning's price pullback, ending this round of trading with only a small profit of about $36,000.
According to on-chain data, as soon as this news was released, the "Yes" option on the Polymarket prediction market regarding whether the "Uniswap protocol fee switch will be enabled before December 31, 2025" surged by 69%. More than 20 addresses bought this option, and the current implied probability has risen to 85%.
According to news at 16:00 yesterday (UTC+8), the "Unification" proposal submitted by Uniswap founder Hayden Adams has entered the final governance voting stage. Voting will begin at 11:30 on December 20 (UTC+8) and end on December 26. If the proposal passes, after a 2-day lock-up period, it will be implemented directly: 100 million UNI will be burned; the mainnet v2/v3 fee switch will be turned on, and the related fees will be used for continuous UNI burning. Affected by this news, UNI surged 10% in a short period.
