The most profitable crypto narratives in 2025: RWA and Layer1 lead the way, AI and Meme see significant pullbacks, GameFi and DePIN are the biggest losers.
PANews, December 25 – According to statistics from CoinGecko, the strongest crypto narrative in 2025 is RWA (Real World Assets), with an average annual increase of 185.76%, mainly driven by Keeta Network (+1794.9%) and others. The Layer1 sector ranked second with a gain of 80.31%, with Zcash and Monero surging 691.3% and 143.6% respectively. The US-based crypto narrative ranked third, up 30.62% for the year, entirely due to the strong performance of Zcash.
Despite their popularity, AI and Meme narratives fell by 50.18% and 31.61% respectively in 2025; DeFi and DEX sectors declined by 34.79% and 55.53% respectively; Layer2 recorded -40.63%, marking a loss for the second consecutive year. The worst performers were GameFi and DePIN, which plummeted by 75.16% and 76.74% respectively, while the Solana ecosystem also dropped by 64.17%.
