Labor Productivity Sees Significant Growth in Q3 2025
According to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, labor productivity in the nonfarm business sector rose by 4.9% during the third quarter of 2025. This improvement was driven by a 5.4% increase in output, while hours worked edged up by just 0.5%. All figures are presented as seasonally adjusted annual rates.
When compared to the same period last year, labor productivity in this sector advanced by 1.9% in the third quarter of 2025.
Additionally, unit labor costs for nonfarm businesses declined by 1.9% over the quarter. This decrease occurred alongside a 2.9% rise in hourly compensation.
