China Expresses Readiness to Strengthen Ties with Canada
During a meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed to his Canadian counterpart that China is prepared to expand collaboration with Canada and remove obstacles that hinder their relationship. This discussion took place as Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Beijing for a four-day official visit—the first visit by a Canadian prime minister in almost ten years. Carney is scheduled to hold talks with Premier Li Qiang later on Thursday and meet with President Xi Jinping on Friday. Wang Yi emphasized China’s commitment to open dialogue, building mutual trust, and advancing cooperation between the two nations.
