January 2026 Survey on the Outlook for US Manufacturing Businesses
Regional Manufacturing Sees Overall Growth
According to responses from the January Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey, manufacturing activity in the area experienced a general uptick. The main indicator for overall activity improved and shifted into positive territory. Both new orders and shipments showed gains as well. While the employment index dropped, it still points to ongoing job growth. Price indexes stayed significantly above their historical averages. Although most of the survey’s forward-looking indicators decreased, they still reflect optimism for continued expansion over the next half year.
