Sui Releases Review of Outage Incident: Prolonged Interruption Caused by Internal Disagreement in Validator Consensus Handling
Foresight News reported that Sui has released a review report on the recent outage incident. The cause of the incident was a sustained interruption resulting from an internal divergence in consensus processing among validators, which prevented validators from certifying new checkpoints and caused transaction submission timeouts. This issue was unrelated to network congestion or transaction volume. Sui's checkpoint certification and isolation mechanisms promptly detected and contained the problem, preventing user-visible forks by pausing processes. After validators deployed a fix and reprocessed consensus data, the network resumed normal operations. The official statement noted that no certified transactions were rolled back during the incident and user funds remained secure.
