Billionaires possess an ‘excessive’ level of political sway — and their wealth has reached new heights, according to Oxfam
Global Billionaire Wealth Hits New Heights
According to a recent Oxfam report, the combined fortunes of the world's billionaires have soared to an unprecedented $18.3 trillion. The study highlights that the ultra-wealthy are increasingly pursuing influence to benefit themselves.
Last year, the number of billionaires surpassed 3,000, and together they experienced a 16% jump in their wealth—an increase of $2.5 trillion. Since 2020, their total assets have grown by an astonishing 81%, with Oxfam characterizing the last decade as exceptionally favorable for the billionaire class.
While the richest individuals continue to amass greater fortunes, progress in alleviating poverty has stalled, with poverty rates remaining largely unchanged.
