Hyperliquid treasury seeks revenue boost using HYPE holdings as options collateral
Publicly-traded Hyperliquid digital asset treasury Hyperion DeFi Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPD) said on Wednesday that it will look to pursue additional revenue by using its HYPE holdings as options collateral.
Hyperion's strategy does not include directional trading or speculating, said the company's CFO, David Knox. Instead, the company wishes to provide collateral for the writing and settling of options and then earn revenue on premiums and fees. The capital earned would be added to the revenue generated from staking Hyperion's HYPE tokens.
"By deploying transparent, on-chain options vaults directly on Hyperliquid, we expect to improve execution efficiency and pricing across counterparties while further optimizing yield on our HYPE holdings," Hyperion CEO Hyunsu Jung said.
The Rysk protocol is helping Hyperion with the launch of an on-chain options vault, the company also said. Hyperion eventually wants to open the vault to other institutional holders of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid ecosystem.
According to Hyperion, Rysk is a "volatility income protocol ... that enables established options strategies such as covered calls and cash-secured puts to be executed fully on-chain."
Hyperion rebranded as a HYPE treasury in mid-2025. Then, in early December, the company said it owned 1,862,195 HYPE, currently worth over $63.5 million.
HYPD shares fell more than 13% to around $3.50 following the announcement, according to Google Finance data, as a broader crypto selloff wiped nearly $750 billion from the total market cap.

Will “continual learning” AI extend the memory “shortage” until 2031?
Citi believes that as AI enters the era of "continuous learning" beyond simple training and inference stages, demand for HBM, server DDR5, and enterprise SSDs (eSSD) will experience explosive and simultaneous growth starting from 2027. While demand will surge rapidly, the supply side is constrained by HBM production capacity usage and slower technology migration, leading to expansion lagging far behind demand. This supply-demand imbalance is expected to continue until 2031.
