Japan election outlook: How a significant LDP victory might impact the economy, government bonds, and the yen
Takaichi's Bold Election Gamble
Just three months after stepping into office, Takaichi has unexpectedly called for an early election—a daring strategy aimed at gaining public endorsement for her agenda. She assumed leadership of a struggling party and a minority government last October, following Ishiba Shigeru’s near-resignation after consecutive parliamentary defeats. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has faced dwindling public confidence due to rising living costs and a string of political funding controversies.
Although Takaichi secured the prime ministership by a slim margin, her initial approval ratings soared to approximately 70% in her first quarter. Now, she hopes to capitalize on this popularity to win an outright majority for the LDP.

Tonight the Fed rate hike is almost certain; the market is closely watching Waller's remarks: will a signal of continued rate hikes be released?
