Significant Drop in Manufacturing Output in December 2025
Manufacturing output experienced a notable decrease in December 2025, falling by 0.8% following a 0.5% rise in November. The overall industrial sector also saw a downturn, with production dropping by 0.7% after a slight 0.1% increase the previous month.
The decline was especially pronounced in the transport equipment manufacturing sector, which plummeted by 9.9% after a 3.8% gain in November. The drop was even steeper in the category of other transport equipment, which fell by 15.8% following a 4.3% increase. Aerospace manufacturing was particularly affected, as December’s sharp decrease erased the gains made over the preceding three months.
Production in coking and refining continued its downward trend, slipping by 0.9% after a 0.8% decline in November. On the other hand, some manufacturing areas saw a recovery during this period.
