⑴ Rwanda's inflation rate rose to 7.5% in January 2026, the highest level in seven months, compared to the previous value of 5.2%. ⑵ This marks the second consecutive month of rising inflation. ⑶ The food and non-alcoholic beverages price index, which has a high weight, increased by 5.3%, compared to a 1% rise in the previous month. ⑷ Prices in several consumer price index categories continued to rise significantly, including healthcare (63.5%, previous value 63.6%), restaurants and hotels (18.2%, previous value 16.2%), tobacco and alcohol (14.9%, previous value 15.1%), education (10.5%, previous value 10.5%), transportation (7.2%, previous value 7.8%), and housing and utilities (5.9%, previous value 4.9%). ⑸ On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose by 0.6% in January, the same magnitude as the decline in the previous month.
