Japan has returned. Is this a positive or negative development?
How Japan’s Global Influence Could Affect Your Finances
A decade ago, I couldn’t even say “konnichiwa.” Today, I call Japan home, living here with my Japanese spouse and our three children. The reality is, Japan’s influence could soon extend to your own finances, lifestyle, and retirement—just as it has for me. Most people remain unaware of this looming shift, much like the surprises of the sub-prime mortgage crisis or gain-of-function research. No one pays attention—until it’s too late.
Japan’s significance for investors worldwide comes down to two key factors. The first is its Net International Investment Position (NIIP). Japanese investors hold a massive portfolio of overseas assets—about £2.6 trillion more than what foreign investors own in Japan. This makes Japan a pivotal player in global capital flows and investment trends.
