BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE:BKSY) said on Thursday its Gen-3 international momentum is continuing after signing a seven-figure Assured contract with an international defense customer, strengthening demand for its real-time space-based intelligence offerings.

The agreement grants the customer uncontested access to Gen-2 and Gen-3 imagery along with AI-enabled analytics services covering the country’s priority areas of interest.

“BlackSky’s customers are selecting Assured because of the unmatched confidence and certainty they experience with the highest-priority access to tasking capacity and reliable real-time delivery over their key areas of operation,” said Brian E. O’Toole, BlackSky CEO.

Role in Defense Modernization Strategy

Beyond Assured access, BlackSky is supporting the customer’s defense modernization program by accelerating sovereign space capabilities through an end-to-end mission solution that includes Gen-3 Earth observation satellites, ground infrastructure, and flight operations support.

The Assured service provides early intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance functionality until the customer’s own satellites become operational. Once deployed, Gen-3 electro-optical satellites will operate alongside BlackSky’s constellation to deliver mission-relevant insights directly into operational workflows.

“BlackSky’s dynamic monitoring services have become an essential and routine part of our customers’ daily workflow, providing unprecedented visibility into critical maritime zones, border areas and infrastructure at mission speed. This contract signifies BlackSky’s continued commitment to support the customer’s requirements for persistent, dynamic space-based intelligence in an era where threats emerge and evolve in real time,” O’Toole added.

Integrated Technology Stack Driving Demand

The company said it is leveraging its vertically integrated model spanning satellite manufacturing, software, and AI to meet global demand for guaranteed, on-demand data access. Gen-3’s improved image clarity enhances AI-enabled detection, identification, and classification of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and other tactically relevant objects, positioning BlackSky to scale deployment of space-based intelligence solutions efficiently.

The company plans to release fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results on February 26, 2026.

BKSY Price Action: BlackSky Technology shares were down 9.19% at $19.18 at the time of publication on Thursday.
