Nomura analyst: Samsung is expected to benefit from rising HBM4 prices and shipment volumes

Glonghui, February 13th|Nomura's C.W. Chung and Eon Hwang stated in a report that Samsung Electronics is expected to benefit from the increase in average selling prices and shipment volumes of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) products. The memory chip manufacturer has begun shipping the industry's most advanced HBM4, which features faster data processing speeds. According to these analysts, Samsung's HBM4 products have a pricing premium potential of 30%-40%, and the product can provide a constant data processing speed of 11.7 gigabits per second. Samsung stated that the data processing speed of its HBM4 surpasses the 9.6 Gbps of HBM3E and can be upgraded to 13 Gbps. Nomura has now raised its first-quarter operating profit forecast for Samsung's semiconductor business from the previous 33 trillion KRW to 44 trillion KRW.
