Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU) is embedding the fast-rising OpenClaw AI agent directly into its flagship search app, opening the tool to roughly 700 million monthly users just days before Lunar New Year.

  • BIDU is consolidating close to its 52-week peak.

The move escalates China’s AI arms race, positioning Baidu to capture fresh user engagement and monetize automation features at scale as rivals roll out competing integrations.

This integration gives Baidu’s vast user base new ways to apply AI in everyday tasks, CNBC reported on Friday.

How OpenClaw Revolutionizes User Interactions

Previously, OpenClaw was accessible only through chat-based platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. Now, users can use this AI directly within Baidu’s app, streamlining tasks such as coding and managing email.

This move is part of a broader strategy where Baidu is also deploying OpenClaw’s features across its e-commerce and other digital services. The integration aims to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-driven solutions.

Are Chinese Tech Giants Battling For AI Supremacy?

The timing of Baidu’s announcement aligns with efforts by other Chinese tech companies, such as Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE:BABA) and Tencent Holding Ltd. (OTC:TCEHY), to enhance their AI offerings. Alibaba has integrated its AI chatbot Qwen into its e-commerce platforms, significantly boosting consumer transactions.

These companies are in a race to attract new users and monetize their AI investments, particularly ahead of major holidays like the Lunar New Year, which presents a lucrative opportunity for user engagement and revenue growth, the report added.

Market Trends Indicating A Surge In AI Integration

Interest in AI agents like OpenClaw is rising, though cybersecurity concerns remain, the report noted. Firms like CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) have cautioned against unrestricted access to enterprise systems, highlighting the need for a balanced approach to implementation.

BIDU Price Action: Baidu shares were up 0.09% at $138.50 during premarket trading on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
