Matrixport: Is the increased frequency of significant declines within 30 days an indicator for identifying a bear market?

Foresight News reported that Matrixport stated in an article that a common way to determine whether bitcoin has entered a bear market is to observe whether significant declines within 30 days occur more frequently. During a bull market, a drop of more than 20% within 30 days is relatively rare; while in a bear market, such declines tend to happen repeatedly. Meanwhile, market momentum had already weakened by mid-2025: from the 30-day rate of change (ROC), the upward peaks have been consistently lower, and the buying momentum has also been declining in tandem.

Experienced crypto investors understand that bear markets are a natural and recurring part of the cycle, and often create conditions for the next round of recovery and upward movement. However, bear markets usually do not decline in a straight line; even within a larger downward trend, there are often significant interim rebounds. Therefore, investors should remain disciplined and continuously look for more cost-effective interim opportunities as market conditions change.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that there are "ways" to implement the plan without increasing the deficit, but did not disclose specific cost-offset measures. She noted that the Treasury has studied this for "quite some time," and emphasized that "putting more money in Americans' pockets should be everyone's goal." House Speaker Mike Johnson said he had communicated with the President on this issue the previous night, but specific details have not yet been finalized, and it will take some time before the plan is implemented.
