BlockBeats news, on May 1, North Korean hackers engaged in several months of offline contact and infiltration with Drift Protocol employees before launching one of the biggest social engineering attacks in the history of the crypto industry, resulting in losses of approximately $285 million.
According to data from blockchain security firm TRM Labs, since 2026 North Korean hackers have accounted for 76% of all cryptocurrency hacking losses.
