```htmlGolden Ten Data reported on May 8 that the European Union will explicitly state that, in the context of disrupted supply caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, European airlines can use a type of aviation fuel that is more commonly used in the United States to help cope with supply loss. The EU will also confirm that ticket prices cannot be increased after they have been sold. Airlines 4 Europe, the industry organization representing companies such as Deutsche Lufthansa, Air France-KLM Group, and British Airways parent company IAG SA, had previously petitioned the EU to allow the import and use of Jet A fuel, which is widely adopted in the United States. The current European standard fuel model is A1. Sources familiar with the matter said the European Commission will clarify on Friday that this practice does not present regulatory obstacles, but switching fuel models within the logistics system may require the consent of all system users. Jet A1 is the most commonly used aviation fuel worldwide and is made from kerosene, while Jet A is usually only supplied in the United States. The European Commission will also state that prices of tickets that have already been sold must not be retrospectively increased, and will remind the airline industry to comply with passenger rights regulations applicable in various flight cancellation scenarios. The Commission will also inform airlines that current regulations allow flexibility in airport slot arrangements.```
Besent “Extinguishes Fire”: Rising US Treasury yields are a global phenomenon, dismisses concerns over AI bubble
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen defended the rise in U.S. Treasury yields, stating that this increase is a global phenomenon rather than unique to the United States, and does not warrant excessive concern. She partially attributed inflationary pressures to higher oil prices caused by the Iran conflict, and expects the energy shock to subside as hostilities ease. Yellen refuted the notion of an AI bubble, arguing that investments by major tech companies are grounded in solid business logic.
