Russian state-owned oil company Gazprom has requested its subsidiaries to open digital ruble accounts.
ChainCatcher news, according to Bits.media, Russian state-owned enterprise Gazprom has required its 17 subsidiaries to open digital ruble accounts at the Russian central bank.
The company stated that this move is to prepare for compliance with legislation taking effect on September 1, which mandates that legal entities must be able to accept digital ruble as a payment method for goods and services. The Russian digital ruble has been tested since August 2023, and by the end of 2025, more than 130 legal entity accounts have participated in platform testing. Starting from September 1, large Russian banks and major enterprises must offer digital ruble transaction capabilities to their customers.
