On Friday, the Central Bank of Brazil released data showing a basic budget surplus of 24.624 billion reais in April, exceeding the institutional survey expectation of 22 billion reais, but the overall budget deficit was 60.139 billion reais, worse than the expected 50.709 billion reais.
For the 12-month period ending in April, Brazil's basic budget deficit was equivalent to 0.97% of GDP. In April, the total public sector debt accounted for 80.4% of GDP, slightly above the expected 80.3%.
In April, the net public sector debt accounted for 67.4% of GDP, higher than the expected 66.9%.
