According to ChainCatcher, Layer 1 blockchain Tempo has introduced proposal TIP-1061 for native multi-signature accounts. The plan aims to integrate multi-signature accounts as a protocol-level native account type, allowing multi-signature control without the need to deploy smart contract wallets such as Safe.

This solution supports M/N multi-signature, weighted multi-signature, as well as Secp256k1, P256, and WebAuthn signatures. It also allows future adjustments to members and permissions without changing the account address. The proposal is primarily intended for use cases such as DAOs, institutions, and validators, and is currently at the draft stage.
