Among the 11 sectors of the S&P 500 Index, the utilities sector closed down 3.05%, the consumer discretionary sector fell 2.62%, the telecommunications sector declined 1.59%, the energy sector rose 1.86%, and the information technology/technology sector increased 2.48%.
