Crossmint launches Agentic Cards API, enabling AI agents to make payments via Visa cards
Foresight News reported that cryptocurrency API development company Crossmint has officially launched the Agentic Cards API. This API is built on Visa Intelligent Commerce and Basis Theory, aiming to enable AI agents to securely make payments using Visa cards.
The working mechanism of the Agentic Cards API is as follows: after the user authorizes an eligible Visa card, Basis Theory encrypts the card number and CVC, then returns a scope token. Throughout the process, the AI agent only accesses the token, not the original card number. Currently, developers can directly integrate this API into their own platforms or experience it via Crossmint's agent payment product Lobster.cash, which already supports AI agents such as Claude, OpenClaw, Hermes, and Zo Computer.
