Cigna has stopped reimbursing GLP-1 weight loss drugs for its own employees

Glonghui, June 3 — According to materials reviewed by Reuters, health insurance company Cigna will stop covering GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, including Novo Nordisk's Wegovy and Eli Lilly's Zepbound, in its employee health plans starting July 1. Details of this medical plan change were announced to employees via email on June 1. A Cigna spokesperson confirmed the decision to end this reimbursement: "As market supply increases and new options emerge, we have decided to terminate reimbursement for GLP-1 drugs for weight loss in the plan. We will continue to support employees' health through a range of weight management programs and resources."
