Dow Jones futures decline on US-Iran tensions, tech rally fades
Dow Jones futures decline 0.55% below 49,350, while S&P 500 futures lose 0.09% to near 7,620. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures inch lower 0.01%, trading near 30,700 during the European hours on Wednesday, ahead of the US regular opening.
US stock futures remain subdued as traders adopt caution while monitoring US–Iran talks, with mixed signals from both sides keeping geopolitical uncertainty elevated. US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Tuesday that it successfully defeated a series of Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting Kuwait and Bahrain. In response to the regional aggression, US forces also executed self-defense strikes against military targets on Iran’s Qeshm Island, per ABC News.
Wall Street posted solid gains, with major averages closing at new record highs during Tuesday’s regular US trading. The Dow Jones led the advance, climbing 0.45%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.13% and the Nasdaq 100 edged up 0.03%. Technology shares remained the market's primary focus, particularly among semiconductor manufacturers and artificial intelligence infrastructure firms.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise jumped 19.5% after raising its financial outlook on the back of surging AI-related demand. Meanwhile, Marvell Technology rocketed 32.5% following high-profile comments from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who publicly suggested the company could become the next trillion-dollar enterprise.
