- Austria's energy consumption in April increased year-on-year, with electricity sales rising by 1.8% and natural gas consumption increasing by 5.4%. However, domestic energy production declined, leading to higher electricity import demand.
- Hydropower generation decreased significantly due to low water levels, with only solar power generation experiencing strong growth. Natural gas production also dropped sharply, and storage levels are 18% lower compared to the same period last year, although they remain substantial.
- Overall, Austria is becoming increasingly reliant on imports in both electricity and natural gas markets to meet domestic demand.
