Of the 11 sectors in the S&P 500 Index, the information technology/technology sector closed down by 1.52%—with constituent stocks Lumentum, ServiceNOW, IBM, Datadog, and Palantir leading the decline. The financial sector fell by 1.21%, consumer discretionary by 1.07%, telecommunications by 0.18%, while the energy sector closed up by 1.38%.
