Golden Ten Data reported on June 4 that, according to foreign media, the Korean sovereign wealth fund Korea Investment will set up its first office in Tokyo this summer. Managing $232 billion in assets, the fund aims to expand investments in Japan, including alternative assets such as private equity, hedge funds, and private credit. A spokesperson stated on Thursday that the office is scheduled to open in early July. This will be the fund’s sixth overseas office, with others located in New York, London, Singapore, Mumbai, and San Francisco. The spokesperson added that the Tokyo office will also seek investment opportunities in traditional asset classes, including equities and fixed income products. As of the end of last year, the fund had allocated about $181.2 billion of its portfolio to traditional assets, and its overall annualized return rate for 2025 is projected at 13.9%.
