Golden Ten Data reported on June 5 that Terry Duffy, CEO of CME Group, expressed that he is "very concerned" about the rise of so-called "perpetual futures." Perpetual futures are an increasingly popular financial contract that recently received key regulatory approval in the United States. Duffy pointed out that "perpetual contracts" have almost no practical use for institutional investors, yet they expose retail traders to excessive risk. Duffy stated: "I have serious concerns about the structural design of these contracts. I do not want to see people who lack an understanding of the product end up being forced out due to liquidation, as they should not be participating in such contracts in the first place."
