Golden Ten Data reported on June 16 that from late May to mid-June each year, many places in Jiangsu and Zhejiang enter the main acquisition period for spring cocoons. This year, both white and colored silkworm cocoons have seen strong supply and demand, with significant price differences across varieties. Driven by trends such as “Guochao” (Chinese cultural fashion), downstream demand for fabrics has increased. Currently, factories are operating at full capacity, and orders are scheduled through the end of August this year. At the China Silk City in Hangzhou, one of the main silk distribution centers, many shops display fabrics such as Xiangyunsha, jacquard, and Song brocade. The head of a local clothing company said in an interview that they visit the market two to three times a week: “We usually purchase more than 100,000 meters a month, mainly Xiangyunsha. Now it’s peak season, so by the end of the month only about 10% of our inventory remains.” According to local merchants, although raw silk prices have dipped slightly, some Xiangyunsha and other mulberry silk fabrics offer a wider bargaining range due to production constraints and high technical requirements. At present, these fabrics are not difficult to sell, and their ex-factory prices have not decreased but have instead edged up slightly.
