⑴ The National Bank of Georgia maintained its key policy rate at 8.25% unchanged during its June 2026 meeting. The overall inflation rate in May rose to 5.7%, significantly higher than the Bank's target of 3%, mainly driven by rising energy prices and ongoing supply chain disruptions. ⑵ Inflation is expected to remain high in the second quarter, with the average inflation rate for 2026 projected at 4.9%. Economic activity remains robust, with a 6.2% growth in April and an overall average growth rate of 8.3%. However, global uncertainty continues to pose risks to the economic outlook. ⑶ Escalating geopolitical tensions may push up commodity prices, causing inflation to remain above target for a longer period. Conversely, stable commodity prices will help ease inflationary pressures more quickly. Future decisions will take into account current geopolitical tensions; if conflicts persist, gradual adjustments will continue, while easing tensions may allow for normalization.
