Nvidia supplier SK Hynix has shipped next-generation chip samples to major clients.

Golden Ten Data June 18｜SK Hynix announced on Thursday that it has sent samples of its latest generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to major clients, as the South Korean chip manufacturer works to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence semiconductor market. The company stated that the new-generation 12-layer HBM4E chip has a maximum single-pin transfer rate of 16 gigabits per second, with energy efficiency improved by more than 20% compared to the previous generation. HBM chips are used in AI chipsets and are key components in processors produced by companies such as Nvidia, helping to process massive amounts of data required to train AI models. SK Hynix is a major HBM supplier to Nvidia, and its competitors Samsung and Micron are also competing in this field.
