Ethereum Foundation announces restructuring, plans to cut 20% of workforce
BlockBeats News, on June 23, the Ethereum Foundation announced that it is undergoing restructuring and plans to lay off about 20% of its staff.
This adjustment continues the "Lean Ethereum" strategic transformation and the development direction for 2026, repositioning the Ethereum Foundation as a lighter protocol governor and maintainer, rather than a primary core builder.
This change further advances the 2025 PRD (Research and Development) restructuring (reducing staff from more than 110 to below 100), the previous layoff of about 19 people, and the successive departures of several senior researchers.
