Berachain will carry out the PoL Next upgrade on July 7th, and the BGT token will be deprecated.
Foresight News reports that the Berachain Foundation announced on Twitter that the PoL Next upgrade will be launched on the mainnet between July 7 and 8. The main updates include: BGT tokens will be discontinued (the governance token BGT and related Boost mechanism from the original Proof-of-Liquidity model will be gradually phased out); BERA and sWBERA will take over (BERA will become the main economic unit, while sWBERA will serve as the new value accrual layer aimed at providing more concentrated protocol rewards for long-term participants); and introduction of the ERAs mechanism (projects will need to prove real on-chain revenue and utility in order to receive token emission incentives, rather than competing through Boost voting).
