Jinse Finance reported on June 29, citing Yonhap News Agency, that the labor union of the South Korean IT giant Kakao launched a collective action in the form of annual leave on June 29. The Kakao labor and management sides failed to reach an agreement on the standard for awarding performance bonuses. The union took collective action that day in the form of taking annual leave and withdrawing from company business systems, urging management to accept the union’s demand for a bonus payment of about 10 million KRW (approximately 44,000 RMB) per person. Participants included employees from Kakao headquarters and four subsidiaries—Kakao pay, Kakao Enterprise, dk techin, and XLGAMES—with an estimated total of around 3,000 people. This is the second collective action organized by the Kakao labor union following a partial strike earlier this month on the 10th.
