JPMorgan: Institutional investors have limited interest in perpetual futures

JPMorgan stated that client surveys show limited institutional interest in perpetual futures aside from speculative trading. JPMorgan listed basis risk, lack of term structure and physical delivery, and clearing concerns as the main obstacles to the adoption of perpetual futures, and pointed out that offshore perpetual contract trading is dominated by a few large participants, leading to scalability issues.
