Dave Perrill, a director at HIVE Digital Technologies, sold 175,000 common shares on June 19 at an average price of $4.69 per share. The transaction netted him roughly $820,750 in total proceeds.

After the sale, Perrill holds exactly zero direct common shares in the company. He does still retain 325,000 unvested restricted share units scheduled to vest through March 2027. Other HIVE directors have conducted similar sales around the same timeframe, making this look more like a seasonal pattern than an isolated occurrence.

The mechanics behind the sale

The shares Perrill sold weren’t purchased on the open market. They originated from restricted share units that vested into common shares on May 7. The company granted him stock as part of his compensation, those shares became his to do with as he pleased about six weeks before the sale, and he chose to convert them to cash.

HIVE’s business is firing on multiple cylinders

HIVE Digital Technologies reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $297.8 million, a 158% increase compared to the prior year. The revenue surge has been driven by its core mining operations and its BUZZ HPC segment, which represents HIVE’s push into high-performance computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

On June 25-26, HIVE announced an upsized $115 million private offering of 0% exchangeable senior notes due in 2031. The proceeds are earmarked specifically for financing AI and GPU cloud growth initiatives.

HIVE shares were trading around $4.63 following Perrill’s sale, reflecting a 177% gain over the preceding twelve months.

What this means for investors

Perrill chose to retain his 325,000 unvested RSUs rather than exploring any mechanisms to accelerate or hedge them. Those RSUs, vesting through March 2027, represent a meaningful ongoing stake in HIVE’s future performance.

A company growing revenue at 158% year-over-year, raising $115 million in fresh capital at 0% interest for its AI expansion, and trading at a stock price that has nearly tripled in a year is clearly in growth mode.

High interest rates are not the "end" of US stocks? Is profitability the real key?

JPMorgan believes that profit growth is the key factor determining the resilience of U.S. stock valuations. Data since 1950 shows an "inverted U-shaped" relationship between the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield and S&P 500 valuations. Based on current profit levels, yields would need to reach about 5%-6% to significantly compress valuations. As long as profit growth remains above 15%, there is still room for valuations to be re-rated. If the yield curve steepens in a bear market, cyclical sectors such as energy and financials will benefit more; if it flattens, technology stocks will have a relative advantage.
