Trump Suggests Waller's Work at the Fed is Challenging, Continues Attempts to Oust 'Difficult' Members
On July 3, following the latest U.S. employment report, President Trump, in an interview, declined to offer advice to Federal Reserve Chairman Waller, stating that the new chairman 'must do what he has to do.' Trump remarked, 'Waller has a board that may be somewhat hostile, and unfortunately, this board may want to do the wrong things.' Trump also mentioned that he would continue to push for the dismissal of Fed board member Cook by 'winning lawsuits.' Trump has long favored lowering interest rates.
