Donald Trump Set to Launch Investment Initiative for Kids on 250th Anniversary

The US government will launch Trump Accounts on Saturday, July 4, 2026. It is part of the events scheduled to mark America’s 250th anniversary of independence, and an effort to boost the independence of American kids.

According to the program’s structure, parents can open investment accounts for any child born between 2025 and 2028, marking Trump’s second tenure as US President. Children signed under this program will automatically receive $1,000 from the US government. The money and other funds deposited by employers, philanthropists, and relatives will be invested in the stock market by private firms.

It is worth noting that the beneficiaries of this program will be unable to access the deposited funds until they turn 18. Even then, they would only use the funds for specific purposes, such as paying for a home or school.

Renowned American billionaires have already keyed into the Trump Account project. Among them are notable figures such as Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Technologies, and his wife, Susan, who pledged to give $6.25 billion to the accounts of some kids who do not qualify for the government’s $1,000.

Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs announced on Thursday that they will match the government’s $1,000 contributions for their eligible employees’ children. Other companies that have pledged to match the federal $1,000 contribution for employees’ children include Micron, SoFi, Charter Communications, BNY, BlackRock, Investment Company Institute, Robinhood, and Charles Schwab. Meanwhile, Trump announced on Truth Social that Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology, has promised to give $250 million toward the program.

To register for the Trump Account initiative, parents or guardians of the children can open accounts via IRS Form 4547 or at TrumpAccounts.gov. They can follow up by downloading the Trump Accounts app to activate, track, and manage activities over time.

Notably, the Trump Accounts program will provide an investment vehicle for children who may not have had one. However, research shows that an expected inequality in family contributions could compound wealth disparity over time and concentrate benefits among higher-income households. Nonetheless, the universal $1,000 narrows the gap at the starting line, but not by much, according to the Brookings Institution.

Apple Pre-sale Tracker: iPhone 18 Pro Series Shows Weak Overseas Demand Signals, Duo Review Positive but Hardware Lags Behind

According to a survey by Jefferies, after the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, delivery wait times in the four major markets—the US, UK, Germany, and Japan—have shortened by 5 to 11 days compared to last year, with no wait time in the US. Given stable production capacity, this is a clear sign of weak demand. Although the China and Hong Kong markets have performed better against the trend, there are still suspicions of speculative stockpiling. The new foldable Duo has been praised for its software experience, but its $2,000 price tag comes with a 254-gram body and dual-camera setup, leaving its hardware lagging significantly behind Android competitors. Jefferies maintains an "underperform" rating, with a target price implying a 21% downside from the current level.
