FairShake Super PAC Targets 2026 Midterms With $193M Boost Led by Ripple » CoinEagle
Key Points
- FairShake enters 2026 with $193M, led by major contributions from Ripple, Andreessen Horowitz, and Coinbase.
- Spending aligns with Senate debates over comprehensive digital asset market structure legislation.
FairShake, a bipartisan crypto-focused super PAC, has reported $193 million in available funds ahead of the January 31 Federal Election Commission filing deadline.
The figure was shared prior to the close of January reporting as the 2026 midterm election cycle begins to accelerate.
FairShake’s Funding Structure and Major Donors
The total war chest is distributed across three affiliated entities: FairShake, Protect Progress, and Defend American Jobs.
This structure enables coordinated spending while targeting Democratic and Republican candidates through separate political action committees.
Two large contributions in the second half of 2025 significantly boosted the total.
Ripple donated $25 million, with CEO Brad Garlinghouse publicly describing the contribution as a continuation of the company’s previous election-cycle engagement.
Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, through its crypto arm a16z, added $24 million during the same period.
Coinbase previously contributed $25 million earlier in the year, bringing combined late-cycle support from the three firms to roughly $74 million.
Federal Election Commission data compiled by Bloomberg Government show that during the 2023–2024 cycle, FairShake and its affiliates received approximately $93.5 million from Coinbase, $45 million from Ripple, and about $67 million combined from Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz.
Funding levels in the current cycle remain comparable, with only a slight narrowing of the donor base.
Legislative Timing and Political Strategy
The fundraising surge coincides with Senate consideration of comprehensive digital asset market structure legislation.
The Senate Agriculture Committee is preparing to vote on its portion of the bill, while progress in the Banking Committee has slowed due to jurisdictional disagreements between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
FairShake spent approximately $195 million during the 2024 election cycle.
The group has stated that its efforts supported the passage of stablecoin-related legislation in 2025 and that it plans to remain active in races involving digital asset policy positions.
According to Bloomberg Government, FairShake’s cash reserves represent the largest industry-specific super PAC war chest entering a midterm cycle, surpassing comparable groups aligned with finance and healthcare sectors.
Smaller crypto-aligned PACs collectively brought the broader ecosystem’s total to about $221 million for 2026 as of early in the year.
A June 2026 report indicated that crypto-affiliated groups had already spent roughly $189 million in primary contests.
Additional reporting noted that a significant share of funding had been deployed before general election advertising periods began, emphasizing early-stage race intervention.
Campaign finance observers have described the scale of spending as one of the most substantial single-industry efforts in recent election cycles.
Upcoming FEC filings are expected to clarify how remaining funds will be allocated in contested Senate and House races where digital asset regulation remains under debate.
