Circle faces criminal charges in Wisconsin for refusing to assist in freezing or recovering funds for scam victims
Foresight News reports that, according to an investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), law enforcement agencies from Wisconsin and New York have accused Circle of refusing to assist in freezing or recovering USDC belonging to fraud victims. Prosecutors in Wisconsin have filed criminal charges against Circle, alleging the company failed to comply with a court order to recover stolen assets. Circle claims the lawsuit is groundless, arguing that it lacks the technical capability to execute the order and that the court does not have jurisdiction over the case.
